Rates* and Terms *Or, the first thing everybody wants to know, but are too polite to ask.
$95/hour*
*with an 8 hour minimum for any single project (unless specifically negotiated).
Ok, now that we got that out of the way, why $95/hr?. Why not the industry standard of $125/hr for production work?
The simple answer to that is so that my clients can resell my time with an additonal 30% tacked on for service charges.
My most
common work scenario these days is working for independent producers, designers and advertising agencies
and they re-sell my hours to their customers. Most will want a 30% margin. So, instead of what I, along with most of my
fellow freelancers and consultants, have done in the past, which is to have 2 rates --one rate if the client is the end customer,
and a lower rate if the work is to be re-sold-- I decided to keep my life (and book-keeping) simple by having one only rate...
and publishing it!.
Why the 8 hour minimum?. Because of this website I get many calls from people just looking for a bit of help or information, and while I
usually do not begrudge sharing my expertise with fellow developers, if left uncontrolled, it does tend to eat up alot of time.
The 8 hour minimum establishes the concept that time is expensive, especially when the whole company's revenue is dependant on just
one person.
While my competitors may be cheaper... I am confident that I am better, and faster, and
using me will save you money in the long run!
