Q: We have a set of swings on our playground and it seems like the posts flex back and forth while the kids are swinging. Is this normal or should we take some sort of action to correct this?
A: While the swing is in use, I suggest you inspect the footing where the posts meet the ground. Any movement of the footing in this area would be an indication of a potential problem that needs attention. Either your soil is not stable and the posts may require a larger concrete footing, or the footing may be cracked and should be replaced. A slight movement of the posts above the ground is normal and poses no long-term threat.

Q: I’m worried that the bolts on the rocking and springing equipment in our park may come loose. Does Landscape Structures have anything to more securely lock the bolt in place?
A: This is the type of equipment where the bolts take the most abuse. We have a jam nut that locks the original nut in place. This double nut concept will keep the attachment secure. Contact your local Landscape Structures representative and we will see that you get what you need.
