Solution:
Project:
This project was for a client that has a product that they needed to demo to a number of potiental customers and focus study groups.
Each demonstration had to be unique to the customer with special features and graphics and data elements that may not be useable by another customer.
The demos are to be delivered to the customers on CDROM, and the
customizable features for each demo had to added or removed by my client's operational staff.
It also has to be easy to customize for use on a variety of platforms.
Macromedia Director

Even though the demos are essentially demos of web based applications, I decided to use Macromedia Director
to showcase my client's product. Director's "write once, play anywhere" feature was ideally suited for this project. This allowed
the product to be demonstated without concern about platform type or if the machine has a browser installed or even a internet connection.

All the customizable elements for each demo was written into a application configuration (.INI) file that was read by the application at startup.
The application then configured the demo accordingly and replaced graphical assets as dictated by the INI file.

The resulting product was easily modifable by non-technical personnel, ie: my client's marketing dept. and
custom modifications for each set of CDROMs could be done and tested in a matter of minutes. Using a customizable autostart file,
each CDROM was easy to use for the end user and worked well for the various non-technical focus groups.
